For Immediate Release

The Abhorrent Abecedarium, a Lovecraft Alphabet Book

San Diego, CA, July, 2017 – Maxwell Mudd presents The Abhorrent Abecedarium, a Kickstarter for an H.P. Lovecraft inspired rhyming alphabet book.

For artist Maxwell Mudd, The Abhorrent Abecedarium Kickstarter marks the final step in a years long process of writing, and illustrating an art book based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Mudd was inspired to create the book while reading Edward Gorey, when he realized there was a sinister quality reminiscent of the work of the author H.P. Lovecraft. That led Mudd to wonder what it would have been like if Gorey had illustrated an H.P. Lovecraft book. From there the project took on a life of its own and became a distinctly Maxwell Mudd work. Mudd started this project in 2013, and despite personal hardships in the intervening years, it is finally finished and ready to share with the world!

The Abhorrent Abecedarium consists of twenty-six (one for each letter of the alphabet) intricately illustrated black and white drawings of various characters, and subjects from the literary universe of H.P. Lovecraft. Each illustrated page features a line of verse that rhymes with the next page, and the book includes an appendix that provides more information on the illustrated subjects.

The Kickstarter project for The Abhorrent Abecedarium can be found at, and is scheduled to end on July 30.
